Earlier this year, the top Air Force officials ‘ alarm about their thinning ranks — say they had 700 pilots and 4,000 mechanics of a short.
Now they warn the problem is much worse.
Under the latest estimates, the Air Force says it must. 30,000 pilots in the next five or six years Today, the Air Force 317,000 flyer.
“[D]he said a lack of people has fundamentally changed the way we do business in respect of operational risk day-to-day”,” Air Force Chief of Staff, David gold fine, in a statement.
The former head of Air Force intelligence, says it’s not only the plane is in need of a boost.
“We have a geriatric Air Force,” said retired Lt. Gen. David Deptula. “We have bombers and tankers over 50 years old. We have [training aircraft] that are over 40 years old, and we have [combat aircraft] and helicopters, which are over 30 years old. So this is a terrible place to be in, if you have a world of constantly growing threats.”
Air Force officials say they need the powers to strengthen, nuclear, intelligence, space and maintenance work.
Earlier this year, the gold fine of the pilot deficiency called alone is a crisis.
“Theair superiority is not an American birthright. It is actually something you have to fight to maintain,” he Pentagon told reporters in August.
During a visit to Shaw Air Force base, home of the 20th Fighter Wing, the former commander said that the force has, in a state of war for decades.
“Your air force has been at war since Desert Shield/Desert Storm. This wing has been at war since that time for 25 years. We went to the Middle East, when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, and we never left,” said Col. Stephen Jost.
At the beginning of the Gulf war, the air force squadrons 134 hunting. In the last decades, the number was reduced to 55.
However, the Air Force is conducting almost 70 per cent of the strike missions, against ISIS and the execution of 90 percent of the air refueling missions over Iraq and Syria since August 2014.
The Air Force is not the only service that wants to grow.
The Navy of the United States says it wants to expand its fleet by 30 percent, to intensify as threats around the world.
Today, the Navy is 273 ships and U-boats, and a new Navy has released a study that says the secretary of the Navy last week, it has a 355 in the future.
The focus on attack U-boats, necessary to keep tabs on the growing threat from China and what call the officials, the continued “militarization” of the South China sea.
The army and Marine Corps have also expressed the desire to grow your staff, and get a much-needed spare parts for their equipment and aircraft.
