The mexican billionaire Carlos Slim greets the attendees at the Museo Soumaya in Mexico City, on June 15, 2016.
In an apparent attempt to smooth things over after months of mutual criticism, Donald Trump, and the Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim was a “hearty” meal Saturday in Florida.
Slim’s spokesman confirmed the two had dinner at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, said that the telecom mogul was a “very positive” impression of the AMERICAN President-elect on ties with Mexico.
“(Smart) was left with a very positive taste in his mouth regarding the relationship with Mexico,” said Arturo Elias, Slim’s son-in-law and spokesman.
He said that the meeting had taken place on the Trumpet to the invitation.
Trump angry Mexicans during the election campaign by pledging to build a wall on the U.S. southern border and Mexico for pay, also as threatening closed a joint trade deal and the imposition of punitive tariffs on Mexican-made goods.
These properties led to criticism from business leaders including Slim, who said Trump’s plans could destroy the AMERICAN economy. But after the Nov. 8 election, Slim offered a more upbeat take, to say that if Trump is successful, it would be good news for Mexico.
Elias said he had no further details when asked if the meal had left, Slim with a feeling that Mexico was probably not facing a big economic shock when Trump takes office on Jan. 20.
