After a deadly virus outbreak in China, CDC announced enhanced health screening tests on the 3 major airports in the U.S.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with the U. s. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the announcement of the implementation of the enhanced health screening for the passengers who are from, or travel through, the Wuhan province of China, in the middle of a mysterious viral outbreak in the region.

Screenings will begin Jan. 17, when the three major air-hubs: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and John F. Kennedy International Airport, ny (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

CHINA CONFIRMS SECOND DEATH IN THE MYSTERY OF A VIRAL OUTBREAK

Chinese health officials have confirmed that more than 40 cases of pneumonia — two deaths — linked to the corona virus, which, in turn, is attached to a fish market in the city of Wuhan. Officials believe the virus is spread from animals to humans, but they have yet to rule out the possibility that the virus is spreading from person-to-person, The Associated Press reported.

Health officials in Thailand and Japan, have also confirmed cases of the virus, the latter of which was contracted in China and was seen as soon as the patient has been admitted to a hospital in Japan.

“In order to further the protection of the health of the American public for the emergence of the new corona virus, the CDC is the early entry screening at three ports of entry. Research on this new corona virus is in progress, and we will quickly respond to the changing situation,” Martin Cetron, M. D., director of the CDC’s Division of Global Migration and Quarantine, said in a news release.

The CDC has confirmed that the deployment of 100 members of staff in order to help airports in their screening processes, and the enhancement of existing staff on each of the air hub in the quarantine areas.

At least six other countries in Asia have launched similar efforts to stem the spread of the virus, The Associated Press reported. Travellers are also warned to take precautions to take in during a visit to China ahead of Lunar New Year celebrations later this month.

Officials have been quick to shut down rumors of a SARS resurgence, going so far as to punish more people who are spreading such kind of information online.

The CDC and CBP is expected to be around 5,000 passengers to be screened in the next few weeks, all three airports combined. The first direct flight from Wuhan will come on Saturday at SFO, The GA told you.
