Afellay after a heavy knee injury is ready for comeback at Stoke City
Ibrahim Afellay is ready for his comeback at Stoke City. The midfielder was since april off with a knee injury.
Manager Mark Hughes of Stoke takes Afellay is likely on in the clash for the uitduel with Liverpool on Tuesday.
“Afellay played last Friday with the under-23 team and is strong out of that race come. He makes part of the first team and can be selected,” said Hughes on Thursday at a press conference.
“He again makes the impression of the old Afellay, which is great. Usually, players are what to be careful when they come back from a serious injury, but with him that is not the case. I do not hesitate to have him again.”
Afellay (30) has been playing since the summer of 2015 at Stoke City, where also Erik Pieters and Bruno Martins Indi are active. The achttienvoudig international came in his first season to 31 matches.
The match between Liverpool and Stoke begins Tuesday at 18.15 hours.
