Actor Matthias Schoenaerts wants that life surprisingly remains
Matthias Schoenaerts finds it important that his life is surprising. So the Flemish actor holidays never too far ahead of schedule. “If I already know what next year I would do it, then my sentence is already over.”
“You should always be on the edge of your seat, the feeling that something is on the way, but you don’t know what,” said the 39-year-old actor, known from, among other Rundskop / bullhead and The Danish Girl, in conversation with Knack.
Because Schoenaerts curiosity is important, he is always difficult to found a theatre company to connect with. “In the summer, already know what play I next year in February going to do, that scares me a little. Maybe next year I Hamlet play, but I now know not yet where I will be, in my heart and in my life.”
The actor finds his life “extremely variable”, both personally and professionally. “And then people say sometimes: you’re sister or so. Because they do not understand what the fragmentary life I lead. People want to understand each other and they want, above all, like that everyone is like them. As soon as you’re different, saves something. But then I think: fuck off. I judge people, and I would like to have that in me to do.”
