TULSA, Okla. – A white Oklahoma police officer acquitted of manslaughter after the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man is back on the power of the work a desk job.”
Tulsa officer Betty Shelby’s attorney, Shannon McMurray, said Tuesday that Shelby is working in an administrative role, but she refused to specify which task to care for the official of the security.
Jurors acquitted Shelby last week of Sept. 16 shooting of Terence Crutcher. Shelby said she shot Crutcher out of fear, in the assumption that he was up in his SUV for a gun.
Crutcher does not have a gun on him or in his vehicle. Prosecutors said Shelby overreacted.
Tulsa is the police decided Friday that Shelby back to the force, but couldn’t work patrolling the streets.
A police spokesman did not answer to a message Tuesday seeking comment.
