Aboriginal museum in Utrecht close after sixteen years of doors

The Museum for contemporary Aboriginal art (AAMU) in Utrecht to close after sixteen years of the doors. Thus disappears the only museum in Europe that focuses entirely on contemporary art of the Australian Aborigines.

That makes the museum Tuesday known. The AAMU will close after the exhibition, Tracking Memories, the memory of the country, from 22 January to see up to 15 June, takes.

The museum for many years, rely on private funding. Now that stops, it was decided that the AAMU in the museum Quarter close. The last exhibition presents the most important collection of the last sixteen years.

The museum opened in march 2001 and showed the public every year with two exhibitions to become acquainted with the Aboriginal art and culture. In those years it grew into a knowledge centre and platform about the Aboriginals in Europe.
