ABN Amro bank test payment with an Android smartphone
ABN Amro is started with a test in which customers can pay with their Android smartphone.
Up to five thousand people can inschrjiven for the pilot project. Via the ABN Amro website, they can register for the test.
To use the smartphone to pay, there should be a separate app from ABN Amro: ABN Amro Wallet. Also, the smartphone is running Android 4.4 or higher, and include an NFC chip. Pay is then conducted in the same way there are also non-contact is paid with a debit card.
Previously, the Rabobank and ING on similar projects. All of these services run only on Android. iOS has the NFC chip in iPhones namely, it is not open for third parties, so only Apple’s own payment service Apple Pay can make use of the chip. Apple Pay is not yet available in the Netherlands.
