Authorities say a small airplane with three people on board is missing in the mountainous east Tennessee.
Kathleen Bergen, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman, said the authorities are looking for a Cessna 182 aircraft, and searchers are focused on an area of approximately 15 km south-southeast of the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport.
She said that the three people were aboard the plane reported missing Tuesday evening, but they had no direct information about the aircraft, the place of residence or what happened. The FAA issued a warning, advising the local public safety agencies, which provides for a new search.
Local media organisations said the plane was reported missing 7:35 am, Monday in the vicinity of the airport billed as a foot in the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A man answering the airport, the phone Tuesday said he had no information.
