A rare albino hedgehog has been discovered in a back yard in California, has found a new home.

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services found a “Nic”) on Sept. 13, and took the little creature in its care, according to Fox 11.

“Our team fell in love with the small, scale-covered, buddy, and known as the “Nic” is short for as one of the world’s most famous hedgehog, Sonic the hedgehog,” and the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, said in a post online. Sonic is, of course, the longevity of video game characters.

Hedgehogs are illegal to own in California, so the agency will be sent to the Nic to MeoowzResQ, a rescue partner with organizations that have a permit to care for exotic pets.

A video posted by the resort on Facebook it shows the Nic will get a lot of attention and care from the staff.

The Nic will not be available for adoption, officials said.
