A pregnant mother from Minnesota had been taken from her 3-year-old twins, down to the lake on Sunday, in the hope of teaching them how to float, when she heard the cries of another mother in need of help.

Stephanie, Swedberg, who is 33-weeks pregnant, said that she had been in the water at Crystal Beach Park, with one of her boys, when they saw a fully-dressed mother, wading through the water, screaming for help.

“I didn’t think it was anything until I saw one of the mothers to be fully-dressed, dashing into the water and yelling for someone to help her son,” Swedberg, a retired superintendent, told Fox 9. “And I looked, and I saw one of the guys will not be able to get his head out of the water. He didn’t yell… he was just thrashing around, bobbing up and down a little bit.”

Swedberg told the news outlet, she gave her son to someone, and went up to the guy to get him to take them. Once they were safely back on the ground, and she encouraged the boy to continue on with the lesson, and, in the future, maybe a bath.”

She told me that the water safety is very important in her family, and she has taught her children at an early age, so that they will not be in a panic, “if they don’t hit the ground.”

In a twist of fate, she told Fox 9 that would normally be in church on a Sunday morning, but that is why you have to look at it online, and then go to the lake instead. It was also her first to save, in spite of the summers spent lifeguarding.
