A League of their Own-director Penny Marshall (75) died

Penny Marshall, known for her role in the sitcom Laverne & Shirley and later as a director of movies like Big and A League of their Own, at the age of 75 died.

Marshall died from the effects of diabetes, reports New York Daily News.

In the seventies, Marshall is known for her role as Laverne DeFazio in the komedieserie Laverne & Shirley. For that role she received three nominations for the Golden Globe Awards.

In the eighties, she switched to directing films, with the film Jumpin’ Jack Flash as a debut. In 1988 came her second film Big. It was the first film made by a woman is directed and more than 100 million dollars has brought.
