A large majority of new applicants Donorweek against organ donation
During the past Donorweek (10 to 17 October) for the first time, more people reported that no organs want to give up, reports the ministry of HEALTH, welfare and sport.
Of the almost 31.844 new registrations was 5.414 times ‘yes’ (17 percent), 26.430 (83 percent) ‘no’. 6.511 existing registrations were in a ” yes ” (37 percent) changed and 11.025 in a ‘no’ (63 percent).
Last two years was the ratio of ‘yes’ versus ‘no’ to 86 percent against 14 percent, counting on newcomers and people that changes it.
The bill of D66 for a new registration system, with which a narrow majority of the Second Chamber agreed, led to divided reactions. It is still strong the question of whether the senate will agree.
The plans must be adult Dutch citizens choose whether or not donor. No is no, but no choice is someone registered as organ donors.
