In the mountains, on the Spanish holiday island of Gran Canaria are going on in a huge forest fire. Especially in the municipalities of Tejeda, Artenara and Gáldar are affected by it. Nearly a thousand people have been evacuated, according to emergency services in the Canary Islands on Sunday.
The Tamadaba national park, in the western part of the island, is being threatened by the fire.
The fire department trying to put out the fire with the help of planes and helicopters. For the emergency services to estimate the affected area, about 30 kilometres from the capital, Las Palmas, is approximately 900 acres.
The fire on Saturday broke out in Artenara, and re-distributed. The strong smoke was also seen on the neighbouring island of Tenerife.
The police believe that the fire was caused by someone who has a soldering iron is used. A 55-year-old man on Saturday for this was arrested and will be heard.
