A former advisor to the Vatican on appeal, convicted and sentenced for abuse

George Pell, the former financial adviser to the Vatican on Tuesday by an Australian court on appeal convicted and sentenced for the abuse of two children. “He has to have his six-year prison sentence to continue to live,” said judge Anne Ferguson.

The 78-year-old Pell, one of the most powerful men in the Vatican had earlier, in 2019, was sentenced to many years in prison.

The lawyers had several grounds for an appeal

The advocates of the Pell had, on several grounds, filed an appeal against the ruling. They claimed, inter alia, that plaintiffs are too few in relation to the statements of the only surviving victim. The second victim passed away in 2014, as a result of a drug overdose.

Pell will be in 2022, it will be eligible for parole. He has a time to appeal.
