She was a young girl, who was just starting her life,” Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock told a news conference.

She was found stabbed to death, a day after she was abducted and sexually abused, officials said. The body was shot on Jan. 16 in the early 1980’s.

The Pruszynski murder investigation went cold for a year after the crime, officials added. It opened its doors in 1998, before it went cold again.

The public prosecutor’s office described the Pruszynski as a “sweet and innocent” young women.
