A Florida mother teaches daughter a lesson in gratitude: ‘sis, need a little wake-up call’

Parents everywhere praise one Florida mom after she made her daughter some tough love earlier this month with a lesson on being grateful.

She Hassel of shopping for back-to-school supplies when they are surprised, and her daughter, Presleigh, with a pencil, if they did that, they would have to be mind-blowing” about it. Hassel was surprised, but then her little girl and threw the case into the bin and stormed off into her bedroom and close the door behind her.

“She cried,” that’s stupid, everyone in my class did that…I don’t want it anymore!'” she explained in a Facebook post.

Hassel said she didn’t respond immediately, because she wanted to compose herself in order to cope with the outburst of anger that is good.

“So, by this time, there was Probably smoke coming out of my ears, and I’m trying really hard not to completely lose it on this kid that I worked so hard for to fully take care of, financially, on my own, to make sure that they always get what they need, and then some,” she wrote. “You know, I thought that I had learned to be thankful & know how lucky she was, but apparently it sis needed a little wake-up call!!”

Hassel took a plastic sandwich bag, wrote the following Presleigh, the name of it, and gave it to her.

“I told her to get the [pencil case] out of the trash can, and we’ll find a kid to give it to tomorrow..and whose mommy’s and daddy’s don’t have the money for school supplies or someone that may not even be a mom or a dad.”

She went on to say, “I told her, that she has no right to be anything fancy, and it is for love, no matter how happy she is… So, for now, it will be with a re-sealable bag and will be personally delivering a beautiful box of a child who could benefit from it.”

Hassel to post a few photo’s of the pouch, and the new, Presleigh will be used. She also shared a photo of the little girl, who was not very happy with the class.
