The park has posted a video of the turtle in the water, floating on her Facebook page. The camera zooms in on the creatures head, and the spear piercing through his head.
For the fishermen, the federal government protected the animal, that looked like a green turtle, and on Friday afternoon, a park service law enforcement ranger, told the Miami Herald.
All of the five species of sea turtles found in Florida are either endangered or threatened, according to the Florida Wildlife Commission. The reptiles are protected under the Federal Endangered Species Act of 1973 and Florida’s Marine Turtle Protection Act.
