ORLANDO, Florida. – The patrons locked in the bathroom of a nightclub Orlando as a gunman carried out, the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history pleaded with 911 operators to send help.
The last batch of the 911 audio recordings released Wednesday by the city of Orlando captures clients desperately waiting for the first reactions.
The operators repeatedly tell them help is on the way, but that there are a lot of people to save in the club, as well as many hiding places.
Although an off-duty officer working at the Pulse night club and other officers responded within a few minutes in the conflict, gunman, Omar Mateen lasted three hours.
During that time, the patrons told 911 operators that the conditions of the injured were still worse.
Forty-nine people were killed and 53 others were seriously injured.
