911 caller asks for ride home, is arrested

Springfield Township, Ohio, police said a man called 911 wanting a ride home. The authorities thought at first he might be wanted for the murder of what he told the coordinator.

When police arrived, Marvin Matthews was arrested.

911 coordinator: Emergency Coordinator Rose.

Matthews: I’m going to tell you…I am Marvin Matthews. Come pick me up and go home.

His ex-girlfriend said that he was not invited to her home, when he was dropped off Monday night.

Springfield Township police responded quickly, especially after hearing the exchange with the coordinator. She thought at first he was a murder suspect, and call for a ride.

911 coordinator: OK, you wanted for something?

Matthews: What murder?

911 coordinator: You wanted for murder?

The police said that they were busy with his name, but did not all. The 911 operator kept Matthews talking until the police arrived.

911 coordinator: OK, what is the address?

Matthews: And you better hurry right f-ing now.

911 coordinator: Sir, are you talking to me? I have just one answer to the question…did I offend you in some way?

The police got to the address and arrested Matthews for the making of false alarms.
