’90 grams of whole grains per day reduces risk of colon cancer’

Eating wholegrain cereals such as brown rice and whole grain bread can reduce the risk of colon cancer decrease.

That makes the World Cancer Research Fund Thursday announced in a new report.

According to experts, makes no lifestyle guarantee against cancer, but a healthy diet and lifestyle play a role in the prevention thereof.

For the study, all the available evidence worldwide to food, weight and physical activity in relation to risk of colon cancer are analyzed. Researchers have findings from 99 studies is brought together. In the research was the data of a total of 29 million people of which a quarter of a million people in whom colon cancer was diagnosed.

Movement

It is shown that three servings of whole grains per day (90 grams), the risk of the disease by 17 percent can reduce. Also movement, in any form, the chances for the disease to shrink.

The risk is increased by processed meat (ham, salami) and more than 500 grams of red meat per week (beef and pig). Also, two or more glasses of alcohol per day and being overweight increase the risk of colon cancer.

“Colon cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide. The new report shows that a lot of people can do to their risk of colon cancer significantly decrease. The findings are clear: nutrition and lifestyle play a large role in colon cancer,” says Edward L. Giovanucci, professor of Nutrition and Epidemiology at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.
