During our culinary journey through Ghent, we recorded a few new, excellent addresses. For a healthy bite, a trendy lunch, a vegan meal, an exotic eetmoment or gourmet indulgence in Ghent by the way always good. Just follow the guide.

This healthy new salad bar is an initiative of three young entrepreneurs: Maxime Rubbens, Mathieu Daems and Brecht Kerckhof. The three have no horecaervaring, are passionate about food and a healthy lifestyle and ventured into June their chance.

The concept is based on à la minute compound salads, that may be considered or locally consumed. The prices are democratic and the salads are available in small and large portions available.

Especially young women feel good Romain Roquette. The atmosphere is light-hearted, which is in line with the food. The large space was decorated by Gaspard by Carole Lantsoght, and has a hanging evening meal, for which tractorkrukken. The accessories are on the spot to purchase and are from the Nordic concept store Bliss.

On the corner of the Jakobijnenstraat and Onderbergen opened Moor&Moor, a grocer with dining area on the mezzanine level. You are at the right place for your daily shopping.

The brands you find nowhere else and are subject to the P(ure) Love principle. That is to say: pure (each product is under the microscope), organic (100% natural), as locally as possible, sustainable, and vleesvrij.

The quirky choice is wide. Grains such as spelt flakes, berries (mulberry), chia seed, nuts, and high fiber pasta to be sold loose, and you must weigh. Vinaigrette you need self tapping. It also sells fresh sourdough bread, Nordur Salt from Iceland and ketchup from the ketchupfabriek of Lineke and Patrick in Graauw. At Moor&Moor, you are welcome for a breakfast, a delicious coffee or an affordable lunch.

Le Botaniste

This new vegetarian and vegan restaurant is an idea of Alain Coumont, founder of Le Pain Quotidien. The restaurant with take out service is housed in a stylish old house. The chic décor is based on a nostalgic pharmacy. A leienbord tells you what the pot schaft. All of what you eat here, behind the glass, and exhibited in a long cooler. The ingredients are herbal and organic origin.

As a starter, there is sushi with guacamole and tartar of algae, as a main course, Tibetan Mom with a sphere curryrijst, kikkererwtjes, stewed spinach, and broccoli. For the main courses, there’s always a gluten-free preparation available.

In the desserts you can find cookies of peanut butter, a jar with chocolademodder and rice pudding.

In addition to natuurwijnen there are homemade drinks from the organic agriculture. Food for office or home is in a packaging that is 100 percent recyclable.

The restaurant Bodo is located next to the Castle in an old house with modest furnishings. Bodo is the nickname of Lore Moerman, who during her studies in Germanic languages bijkluste in the hospitality industry. Bitten by the hospitality she has after her studies a keukenopleiding of a year, taught at the vocational school Ter Duinen. Lore is in the leather gone from Wout Bru and at the end of april, its own restaurant is open.

The décor is inspired by the style of the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, the chairs are second-hand. Rôtisserie Chix

The communicative Valentina Gatti and partner Sofie De Wispelaere changed the gourmet restaurant Eat Love Tastings in Rôtisserie Chix. The facade with the famous mosaic tiles disappeared and the interior of the building changed.

Everything revolves around the old-fashioned hoevekip, cooked on a horizontal spit and served with local biogroenten and the best French fries allumettes. There was chosen for a free range chicken from the Netherlands, a cross between the Mechelse koekoek and a Bresse chicken. The critters walk around outside, to grow two times slower and two times over as their brothers from the kippenbatterijen.

The chicken in Chix get exclusively natural, plant-based nutrition, made mainly from corn. That translates into hearty and tasty meat. For those who are less well of cash, there is a bilmenu to 19 euro. For the yankees, there are ecological vingerdoekjes without smell. To chicken to fit bubbles, therefore, there is an extensive schuimwijnkaart.

The healthy gourmet restaurant Naturell is a product of busy bee Lieven Lootens, which is well known through his 24-year-old weekendrestaurant ‘t Earthly Paradise, via the guesthouse The Seventh Heaven, through gastronomic happenings as the Theater of the Senses a culinary journey of discovery along the historic houses of Ghent), and through three-dimensional paintings with products from the kitchen.

Naturell is housed in a historic house in a beautiful location, has a natural design with lots of natural wood and an open kitchen that is led the brothers Reuben and Jonas The Man. Their dishes are beautiful, generous in size, and vegetables get a major role.

Naturell is one of the better stadsrestaurants from Ghent, where there are level is cooked and served. In fine weather, wait a terrace on the water.

A Food Affair

The intimate restaurant was thirteen years ago, opened to the Short More by chef Laurent Loquet and his wife Ellen Schaap. Laurent Loquet received a traditional education at Ter Groene Poorte and did internships at Wout Bru. It took courage and insight to set the rudder to roll the dice and opt for the Asian kitchen. The oriental kitchen is a Laurent intimately to the heart. He traveled through Asia and was followed on the road workshops in order to perfect.

Together with Ellen Schaap, who is graphic designer by profession, and is now responsible for the receipt and operation, he opened A Food Affair. From the first day, a stream of adventurers, who, an evening of culinary strangely wanted to go with new style Asian tapas, curries and combo woks. Laurent Loquet uses only the freshest ingredients and prepares own curry paste.

Ongoing preparations are: Malaysian rendang of beef and red and green curry with chicken.

Fox is a brand new full swing of two cooks with experience. Matthias Devore spent ten years in the better restaurants, such as Cicio in Knokke and led the kitchen of Vinois in Sint-Martens-Latem. On his travels to Asia he learned food sharing appreciate. Jacob Everaert started in Ghent the restaurant Grade, where he is quite some years in the kitchen worked and was chef of Fou d’O in Sint-Martens-Latem, Vintage, signé Nuance.

Fox has on the street a coffee shop with delicatessehoek, where you can have breakfast, lunch or afternoon cake eating. You go to the alley next to the coffee shop inside, then you come to a garden, where the input of the low-threshold restaurant is located.
