2 arrested in death of pastor’s wife during a home invasion

LITTLETON, N. C. – Officials in North Carolina say two men have been arrested after a Sunday school teacher was killed and her predecessor, husband seriously injured in a burglary theft ended with a fire in the house.

Warren County District Attorney Mike Waters told reporters Wednesday that Kevin Munn and Lester Kearney are charged with first-degree murder.

Sheriff Johnny Williams said the couple came into their North Carolina home last Friday, found the robbers within. Williams said that the defendants made Nancy Alford withdraw $ 1,000 from a bank for forcing her and her husband, John Alford, in the house and the surroundings on the fire. Williams says John Alford escape, but could not rescue his wife.

Nancy Alford taught at Sanford Memorial Baptist Church in Brodnax, Virginia. John Alford was pastor for 10 years.
