15-year-old charged in the shooting of supervision at public swimming pool

CLAIRTON, Pa. – A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in the shooting of a teenage lifeguard at a public swimming pool in Pennsylvania.

Allegheny County police said the boy is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and weapons facts, arising from the Saturday to the shooting in Clairton that left the 17-year-old victim to the hospital.

A motive for the shooting is not known. The lifeguard, who was shot in the chest, is expected to survive.

The bail is set at $100,000 for the teen suspect. It was not known Tuesday if he has retained a lawyer.

The shooting is the driving force of new rules in the pool, which will reopen Thursday. Cameras are installed in different areas, police officers will be stationed at the front doors and all bags must be checked.
