WHITE PLAINS, n.y. – Federal prosecutors have charged a dozen alleged gang members with terrorizing the suburbs of New York City, including the murder of two teenagers.
An indictment unsealed Thursday says that the members of a street gang called “The Goonies” or “The Goon Squad” fought turf wars in Mount Vernon, New York, by means of violence and murder with illegal weapons and drugs sold.
They are also accused of wire fraud and indicted for conspiracy, extortion, murder and other crimes. They are accused of killing a rival gang, and another young man, both 13 years old.
According to the indictment, the gang promoted itself on Facebook and YouTube, the proclamation of the membership of the gang and shooting with other gang members. They flashed signs and wore certain clothes, that said: “Goonies” or “GS.”
