‘100 % organic farming in Wallonia is not a utopia”

The Walloon minister of agriculture René Collin has said that a Walloon agriculture is totally organic and works, in the long term is certainly possible. Though there are still some measures need to be used.

At the end of 2015 counted Wallonia already 1.350 bioboeren. “It has to be there in 2020, at least 2,000, and that is possible,” said Collin. The goal is clear: about 30 to 40 years would be all farmers in Wallonia for the complete transition to organic agriculture.

Need to have created the perfect conditions: the consumer must be willing to be habits in the supermarket, to adapt, the sector must be profitable and would Europe still be some policies should take in the field of organic food. “This is not utopia, but a long, long, long breath.” (Belga/EK)
