Netflix is a powerful tool for the survival of the chaos of December. You can watch movies while traveling. You can set up Christmas specials for the kiddies. You can tame bickering family members with a favorite family flick.

1. Download movies and shows

This might be the biggest decision Netflix has made since the beginning of the streaming revolution. Now you can download certain movies and programs from the library and save it to your laptop, tablet or phone. 2. Set up multiple profiles

If you have children, you may already have two profiles: one for adults and another that is family-friendly. But you can create other profiles, so that your preferences and search history remain unique to your tastes. Simply click on the Switch Accounts and you will see the option Add Profile.

3. Sift through Netflix’s weird subcategories

It almost sounds like an urban myth: Netflix has a number of subcategories, film-types that you never thought anyone would be able to identify, such as “Steamy Sci-Fi and Fantasy” and “World of Music

7. Netflix Enhancer

This handy add-on works only in Google Chrome, but it definitely deserves the title. Amplifier you can hover over a film with your mouse and immediately view the trailers and read the reviews. The immediacy of the Amp saves you the trouble of looking up background information on YouTube and Rotten Tomatoes.

8. Maximize video quality

Most people are happy with Netflix the quality of the photo, or they are now watching movies on their phone or on a widescreen TV. But what if you could improve the resolution?

It turns out that you can, and pretty easy, as long as you have a strong Wi-Fi connection. Just access Your Account and go to Playback Settings and there you will find a option that allows you to the quality of the picture on “High”.

9. Goes international

This is a common shocker: People in foreign countries, bring their iPads along. They arrive at their hotel, log in to Wi-Fi and access to Netflix. But wait! What are all the weird movies?

Each country has its selection of films and TV, and many mainstays of AMERICAN entertainment are not included. How to solve it? Subscribe to Mediahint, which allows you to “unblock content” almost everywhere on the globe.

10. Avoid spoilers with Flix

If you use Google Chrome and hate to ruin movie endings, you could try Flix Plus. It can block text and images of your screen, that would reveal too much about a certain movie or show.

After all, there is nothing worse than watching “A Christmas Prince” for the first time and learn that Richard is actually… oh, wait, you only have to download and see.
