1 of 2 girls accused in Slender Man stabbing to be sentenced

WAUKESHA, Wis. – One of two Wisconsin girls accused of stabbing a classmate in order to win the favor of a horror character called Slender Man is on the point to learn how long they will spend in a psychiatric hospital.

Anissa Weier (ah-NEE’-sah WY’-ur) pleaded guilty in August to the fact that a party to attempted second-degree intentional homicide, but claimed that she was not responsible for her actions, because she was mentally ill. In September, a jury agreed.

A Waukesha County Circuit Court judge is expected Thursday to send the 16-year-old at a facility for at least three years.

Payton Leutner (LYT’-ner) survived 19 stab wounds in a Waukesha park in 2014. Leutner, Weier and the other attacker, Morgan Geyser (GY’-zer), 12 years old.

Geyser was also a plea and will be sentenced in February.
