$1 million in cocaine found in banana box, consignment, Washington Safeway stores, police say

The officials of the state of Washington, has opened an investigation after employees at three Safeway stores, reported finding more than $1 million worth of cocaine that was hidden in boxes of bananas.

The contraband was held for the first time at a Safeway in Woodinville, about 20 miles northeast of Seattle, on Sunday, the King County Sheriff’s Office said.

The first is the opening of a box of bananas and found 22 pounds of cocaine – the equivalent of more than $550,000, according to the researchers.

Later in the day, employees at a Safeway in Bellingham – in the northwest corner of Washington state, near the Canadian border and about 23 pounds of cocaine, whereas the unloading of a banana shipments, Q13 Fox reported.

The additional cocaine, it turned into a banana shipments to the Federal Way Safeway, but the total amount remains unclear.

The source of cocaine, has remained a mystery.

“We know it was being shipped from a central warehouse, but we don’t know where it comes from, so this is a work in progress,” said Sgt. Ryan Abbott, from the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), it was the handling of the investigation, he added.
